Hamden High School Reviews

A somewhat decent school, it has different levels which is great, however it's hard to get into any of the programming classes due to lack of interest or too much interest, and then the other classes can sometimes be hard to get into, depending on what subject it is, although if you bug the guidance counselors enough (if you can get an appointment) you can usually get in. Teachers in the 9 levels care, teachers in the 7 levels are so-so, anad the teachers in the 5 levels know their kids don't care so neither do they. All in all an okay school.

i've been a student since 2005.... this school is alright...they just have to stop letting people come in from new haven

school's good. A little too big, but you can get any classes if you really want to.

Too big. Too boring. Teacher quality not that greate. Hard to get any tecnical classes because of number of students. Electronics class i was able to take was the best, but limited by # of hours, and equipment. Most of the stuff was outdated or brokend and we didn't have enougf books for all the students. I now atted Platt Tech, a Vanguard School, and i love it there.

Hamden High is a good school with many excellent teachers who are great at what they do. The classes at this school are excellent, and since there are different levels for every class, everyone can learn at their own pace. This is great for all stusdents and helps everyone out.

Hamden High School is a large school, and therefore, can be a challenge to patrol and ensure the safety of all children... Good teachers, and a dedicated principle. (new one...Mr. Highsmith)

Hamden High has a boot camp mentality. If your child has any special needs this is not the school to be attending. The administration is not flexible and will not accomodate someone with special needs.

Hamden High School is a great school!! The students are great and my classes rock!! I am involved in sports and activities after school including the drum line, DDR (Dance Dance Revolution Club), Rock Climbing, ect. The security guards are wonderful and the rules fair. I only have on complaint about the school.... teacher one-on-one attention. i dont know about other students but for one of my classes i need extra help. I take Italain, a foreign language course, and its complicated, some people can just pick it up, but i cant. Some of my teacher dont understand that because they've been speaking the language for years and they are fluent. Other than that the school is awsome! If you go to the school or have passed though it already, you know that you will never be bored and you will love it.

Hamden High is a great school. They have different levels in which children can apply themselfs to. Levels in which some classes go slower than others. This way the kids can learn at there speed. This school has plenty of extracirricular activities and for the most part the students are friendly. The staff can play some favoritism and can be rather unfair however with a big school like Hamden High everyone can not get there way. This is a wonderful school and I would love to go back anyday!

Hamden High School on the whole is a good school when it comes to academics, there are levels for all classes that a student takes in all subjects based on the childs abilities strongpoints/weekpoints. Discipline is marginal with 4 principals governing their own group of kids all from alphabetical order. Staff I would give a C+ because many have so many students, that if there are problems a parent must intervene to get anything done. Plenty of extracurricular activities. If you hear things about faculty, good or bad, it is almost always true. It is a huge school with over 2500 students and can be chaotic at times.

'Hamden High School is an absoloutely wonderful school. HHS has a wonderful academic program for students of all learning levels. HHS also has the best sports program in all of Connecticut.'

When I went to this school, which was about less than a year ago. I discovered that there was no sense of control. People were always in the halls including me. I also discovered that the rules were not always enforced on every student. That was one of my issues when I attended this school. I did not learn much and it was hard to focuse. It wasn't so much for the students why I wasn't learning, but the teachers also. So I did what any student would do if he/she felt like they weren't learning, I started skipping classes and losing my credit. My opinion about this school states the same' The teacher's need to teach classes a little more interesting and give the students more one-on-one attention.

The teachers need to make the subjects more interesting, and handle their classes better. Other than that, I had a wonderful high school experience with Hamden High, that I wouldn't trade for anything else.
